Manchester United have now tabled an offer to Lecce for top transfer target Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu emerged at the top of United’s shortlist for the left-wing-back position due to the versatility that he’s displayed in Italy.
Despite being a left-back by trade, Lecce have been utilising him on the right wing, showing off his attacking prowess.
With Ruben Amorim wanting to build his team around the attacking wing-backs, Dorgu could be an essential signing for the new manager.
United’s director of negotiations Matt Hargreaves travelled to Italy this week to meet with representatives from Lecce regarding a deal for Dorgu.
The outcome of the meeting was understood to be positive for United, with Lecce’s president commenting: “The meeting went well, it was a cordial meeting.”
As such, United were still very keen following the meeting to pursue their key target.
This morning, a new bid was reported as being imminent, however, it’s now happened.

Manchester United bid for Patrick Dorgu
The Athletic has reported The Red Devils have made an offer for the talented left-back.
It’s understood to be standing at £25 million (€30 million), bridging the gap towards Lecce’s €40 million valuation.
Lecce are keen for either two outcomes; retaining their star player, or agreeing a deal quickly to give time to find a replacement.
With United’s new bid now much closer to that of Lecce’s asking price, it’s hard to see that a deal won’t be completed soon, potentially by the start of next week.
