Manchester United have been heavily criticised for their poor recruitment over the past few years.

Bad signings for huge transfer fees and on massive wages are now starting to really impact The Red Devils.

With Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) such a big part of football, it seems that these past bad decisions are making it incredibly difficult for United to compete and buy the best players in the world.

Having also struggled to qualify for the UEFA Champions League consistently over the past few signings, the financial situation is more dire than ever before.

And that has all culminated in a perfect storm where the players on the pitch are not of the requisite quality to play for a club like Manchester United.

Even head coach Ruben Amorim has stated as such, when he said that the current side is the worst in Manchester United history.

When INEOS came into the club and became part owners, one of the areas that they’ve identified is the transfer strategy and there has been a clear directive to strengthen the academy at the club.

This has already been evidenced with signings made in the past year.

Arguably, the highest profile one was the signing of Chido Obi from Arsenal.

But he was not the only signing made with the future in mind.

Sekou Kone was brought into the club with an eye on becoming a future first team player sooner rather than later, while other youngsters were signed with the thought of becoming a Man Utd star one day.

And it seems that trend has continued with a new player being brought to the club.

According to Twitter account MUFC_Youth, Manchester United have beaten competition from a number of clubs and signed Jed Bangura from Oxford United.

This story has been further confirmed by Twitter pages focused on the Manchester United academy such as AcademyScoop.

For those unaware, Bangura is a box-to-box midfielder and is believed to have great vision and combination play in the final third.

There aren’t too many details right now about any potential transfer fee, if there is one, but it seems that the youngster has signed to join Manchester United.

Jed Bangura is being signed for the Manchester United under 14s and has already represented England under-15s too.

So it seems like the club are at least trying to make positive steps when it comes to tackling their PSR issues – and it’s much needed.

The likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have become experts at bringing talent through their youth team before either integrating them into the first team or selling them for pure profit.

That means that they’re either benefiting at the first team level or bringing in pure profit in terms of transfer funds to comply with PSR.

Manchester United have severely lacked in this area and the signing of Jed Bangura seems to be a step in the right direction.

United fans will be interested to see how the youngster progresses at Old Trafford and will look to see his name in that first team lineup one day in the future.
