Manchester United have been heavily focused on redesigning their defence since last summer.
During the last transfer window, The Red Devils offloaded Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United for £15 million, Willy Kambwala to Villarreal for £8.3 million, Alvaro Fernandez Carreras to Benfica for £5 million, and Raphael Varane to Como on a free transfer.
These departures paved the way for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to join from Bayern Munich for a combined £50 million, and Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille for £51 million.
Patrick Dorgu is set to be joining the club to fill the left-wing-back role in a £25 million move from Lecce as a long-term replacement to injury prone Luke Shaw.
Unfortunately despite all this movement, United are facing serious financial struggles, meaning that sales are needed before new signings can be made, with the offloading of Antony and Marcus Rashford on loan clearing up valuable space in the salary budget.
As such, going into the transfer window, United were open to listen to any offers for any of their stars.
However, The Red Devils have now made a firm decision to retain one of their young defenders.

Manchester United choose to retain Harry Amass

Manchester Evening News has reported that the talented young left-back Harry Amass is set to stay with the club, at least till the end of the season.
It was previously reported that former United interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy was interested in bringing Amass to Leicester on loan to help with the fight to get out of the relegation zone.
However, this now appears to be unlikely, with sources close to the club revealing United’s conditions on agreeing a move for Amass.
The Red Devils are reportedly only considering loan deals for the youngster, with his suitors having to provide a convincing plan on how they would be able to support his development.
Now, with the transfer window nearly closed, United will revise their plans for the left-back in the summer, deciding his place under Ruben Amorim.
