It’s been a whirlwind season at Old Trafford, and Ruben Amorim is already preparing for his first full summer in charge with major squad surgery on the cards.

While Manuel Ugarte’s arrival from Paris Saint-Germain gave United much-needed steel in midfield, there’s growing belief that more reinforcements are needed.

With Casemiro expected to depart and Kobbie Mainoo’s long-term future unclear, Amorim wants a dependable partner for Ugarte ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The club is also aiming to boost their transfer budget through potential high-profile sales, including the likes of Marcus Rashford, who could join Aston Villa permanently for £40 million.

United are still chasing Champions League qualification via the Europa League, and the outcome of that campaign could shape their summer strategy.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are considering a move for Ederson from Atalanta.

The Brazilian midfielder is one of Serie A’s standout performers this season, playing a pivotal role in Atalanta’s push for the Scudetto.

Described as “world-class” by manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the 25-year-old has been attracting attention from across Europe.

United believe Ederson has the perfect profile to complement Ugarte in the middle of the park – combative, consistent, and tactically disciplined.

His current contract at Atalanta runs until 2027, and he earns around £42,000 per week, which United see as an opportunity to offer an improved package.

Atalanta are reportedly seeking a fee in the region of £52 million, but United are unwilling to overpay and will attempt to negotiate a lower price.

Sources indicate that Champions League qualification will be a decisive factor, both in terms of financial power and Ederson’s willingness to join the project at Old Trafford.

Amorim is reportedly pushing hard for the move, with the club’s hierarchy backing his vision to reshape the midfield.

United are also keeping tabs on Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney, but Ederson remains the top priority.

If everything goes according to plan, the Red Devils could be lining up with a dynamic new midfield duo next season – signalling the dawn of a new era under Amorim.
