Manchester United’s season got off to a rocky start on Sunday, with the Red Devils falling 1-0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford.

The opening Premier League fixture exposed a few areas of concern, particularly in goal, where lapses proved costly.

Fans were quick to notice Altay Bayindir’s involvement in the only goal of the match, which left some questioning whether United’s goalkeeper position needs reinforcement.

Andre Onana, still easing back into training after missing pre-season, was notably absent from the starting lineup, adding fuel to the speculation.

Despite the defeat and Bayindir’s error, Ruben Amorim has insisted that he remains confident in his current crop of goalkeepers.

Amorim confirmed that he is happy with his choice of three keepers and came to the defence of Bayindir.

He defended Bayindir strongly, highlighting that mistakes happen and that the goalkeeper’s overall quality and contribution to the squad remain significant.

The manager also underlined that Onana’s limited sessions back meant he was not ready to take over yet, and Bayindir remains the best option given current circumstances.

United’s defensive frailties were laid bare against Arsenal, but Amorim believes building trust and cohesion among his goalkeepers is preferable to rushing a new signing into the squad.

The Red Devils now face a crucial period to regroup, address mistakes, and ensure that early-season slip-ups like Sunday’s do not set a negative tone.

The Athletic reports that United has no immediate plans to pursue a new No 1 this summer.

While fans may be concerned about the goalkeeping situation, Amorim’s stance is clear: Altay Bayindir, Andre Onana, and Tom Heaton provide sufficient coverage for now.

How the trio performs in upcoming fixtures will likely determine whether United consider bringing in additional reinforcements between the posts.

For now, the focus will be on learning from the Arsenal defeat and shoring up confidence in a department that will be crucial if United are to not repeat last season’s fortunes.
