Manchester United are looking to the summer as an opportunity to remodel the squad to fit Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

The Portuguese manager has inherited a wealth of talent and untapped potential, however the squad was assembled for a very different system under Erik ten Hag.

Now, with limited funds for recruitment in the winter, Amorim is having to fit his squad into his playstyle, with the club still struggling to get results.

One key area lacking on the pitch is in attack.

Amorim currently has Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund at his disposal, however, neither provides much confidence in front of goal.

The pair of strikers are far from being clinical finishers with only 12 goals between the duo this season.

As such, United’s recruitment team are looking to Europe to find a more prolific striker to bring guaranteed goals to Old Trafford.

One target who has been on The Red Devils’ radar for some time is Victor Osimhen, the Napoli striker currently on loan with Galatasaray.

So far this season, Osimhen has scored 20 goals with five assists in 25 games, helping the club hold the top spot in the Turkish Super Lig.

Now, Italian journalist Emanuele Cammaroto has reported in Napoli Magazine, that United are “ready to pay” for the striker’s services.

The report suggests that United are acing competition however from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Both of the English sides are reportedly ready to trigger Osimhen’s release clause of £62 million.

However, Osimhen’s current £8.2 million per year salary could prove too much for United even if they manage to cobble together the transfer fee despite the club’s financial pressures.

A more realistic destination for the out-of-favour Napoli striker is Saudi Arabia, with interested party Al-Ahli able to cover his wage and release clause fee easily.

The Saudi club are reportedly looking to offer an annual wage of £25 million to lure the Nigerian striker to the Saudi Pro League, providing stiff competition to Manchester United and Chelsea.
