Manchester United are looking to see how they can offload the remaining members of the “bomb squad” after Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona.
The season-long loan has an option to buy included for around £26 million plus bonuses, potentially bringing an end to his 20-year-long Manchester United career.
However, as Rashford has been the only major departure so far this summer, the Red Devils still have Jadon Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia that they want to part ways with.
Whilst Sancho, Antony and Malacia have all been on loans lately, not fitting into Ruben Amorim’s plans, Garnacho’s inclusion on the list comes from a public bust-up with the Argentina international and the Portuguese manager.
Following the Europa League final, Garnacho criticised Amorim in a post-match interview for putting him on the bench, comments which ended his chances of remaining in the United squad.
Now, The Red Devils are looking to offload the winger, accepting that he wishes to remain in the Premier League, so The Independent has reported that United have contacted Aston Villa and Chelsea about potential moves.
Chelsea have been linked with Alejandro Garnacho since the winter, when a player-swap deal emerged with the winger and Christopher Nkunku in a bid to solve United’s striker crisis, unable to rely on Rasmus Hojlund in front of goal.
However, nothing materialised, with United re-opening the player-swap conversations, but with Nicolas Jackson instead.
Unfortunately there’s a bid valuation gap between the pair, with Chelsea wanting £80 million for their striker and only valuing Garnacho at £30 million.
Equally, United have been opening the door for a similar move to work with Villa, using Ollie Watkins in the deal as one of their top striker targets.
As of yet, nothing is to materialise for Garnacho, which could see him re-integrate with Amorim’s squad if no suitors have stepped forward by the end of deadline day.
