Manchester United have struggled with consistency in midfield this season, with injuries and form issues disrupting their balance.

Casemiro has faced fitness problems, while Mason Mount has endured a stop-start campaign due to injury.

Atalanta’s Ederson has now emerged as a key target for the club, with the chances of his departure from the Serie A side increasing, as per Daniele Longo.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away in the past, and while Atalanta are pushing to extend his contract, he is stalling negotiations as he considers opportunities elsewhere.

A switch to the Premier League is particularly appealing to him.

While Juventus are also eager to secure the 25-year-old’s signature, Manchester United have taken the lead in the pursuit.

The club has already informed Atalanta of their intention to submit a bid for Ederson, with an offer in the region of €60 million expected.

The Brazilian is understood to be considered by United as a successor to Casemiro who struggles now to provide the intensity on the pitch that Ruben Amorim is calling for.

Juventus remain in the race and are determined to bring in the former Salernitana midfielder, but United are in pole position, with the chances of a transfer growing.
