Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United are now planning a move for one of Sporting Lisbon’s stars. However, despite all the rumours, it’s not Viktor Gyokeres.
United have already completed a massive raid of Sporting, taking their manager and seven of his staff including coaches, sports scientists and analysts.
When leaving Sporting, Amorim commented: “In the January market I will not [get players from Sporting], that’s what I said.”
However, he didn’t swear against a move for some of his standout player in summer, saying: “In the summer I don’t know anymore. First point: to hold out until the summer. Sporting’s players are very good players. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Recently several reports have been swirling, suggesting this comment is relating to Viktor Gyokeres with him being open to leave the club in the summer.

However, new reports from Portugal suggest Amorim is prioritising another of his former stars over the formidable striker.
Manchester United look to Sporting Lisbon’s Geovany Quenda
Ruben Amorim’s new side are looking to make a move for his former winger Geovany Quenda.
United have been scouting Sporting’s wonderkid for some time now, being impressed by his breakthrough into the first team.
With 12 appearances across all competitions, grabbing a goal and assist, Quenda has even received a call-up to the Portuguese national Squad for their UEFA Nations League A fixtures, although is yet to make his international debut.
A Bola have now reported that United are looking to sign the star in the summer, staying true to Amorim’s words.
However, unfortunately for United, Sporting rewarded the winger with a new contract in September, sealing him at the club until 2027 with a release clause of £83.3 million (€100 million).
