Ayden Heaven is now officially a Manchester United player.
The 18-year-old has swapped The Emirates for Old Trafford as he leaves Arsenal and becomes the first signing under the Ruben Amorim regime.
And it’s an astute signing at that.
The central defender was highly rated at Arsenal.
Ayden Heaven was so highly rated that he even made his Arsenal first team debut in October 2024 against Preston North End in the EFL Cup.
Not bad when you consider the names that Mikel Arteta has to choose from in his lineup.
Things seem to have escalated quickly with this transfer.
In December 2024, Arsenal had a contract offer rejected by Ayden Heaven.
Up until that point, there weren’t too many noises coming out about any links to Manchester United.
That changed earlier this month when Fabrizo Romano revealed that United wanted to sign Heaven.
And now it has become official.
Manchester United announced the signing of Ayden Heaven this morning.
The player himself spoke once the transfer was confirmed.
“I am incredibly proud to join Manchester United,” said Heaven.
“I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality.
“There is so much that I want to achieve in the game, I’ll be giving everything to continue my development and become the best player that I can be”.
Jason Wilcox, the Manchester United technical director who has been heavily involved in United’s recent transfer activity also commented on the move.
“We are delighted that Ayden has joined Manchester United,” Wilcox said.
“He is already an extremely talented defender who is ready to join our first-team squad in order to maximise his development.
“This club has a phenomenal track record of supporting young players and we believe that Ayden is in the perfect place to reach his excellent potential”.
Ayden Heaven is not the first player to swap Arsenal for Manchester United this season.
Chido Obi-Martin joined United from Arsenal in October 2024.
Obi-Martin has featured prominently for the under-21 and under-18 side this season.
That makes it two signings from the Arsenal academy on free transfers in quick succession.
What is Arsenal’s loss is Manchester United’s gain.
