Manchester United are reportedly looking at dipping into the transfer market once more before the window comes to a close at the end of the week.
With Rasmus Hojlund out injured, United are heavily reliant on Joshua Zirkzee as their only striker, using Bruno Fernandes up top in their last two games.
Even if Hojlund was fit and well to play, neither of the pair of strikers are prolific goal scorers or poacher type players.
Marcus Rashford is reportedly working with Ruud van Nistelrooy to improve his positional awareness to aid him in becoming a clinical finisher, however there are no signs of this paying off in the short term.
So, United are left looking to the transfer market once more to fill this vacancy in attack.
Whilst recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils are looking at long term transfer target Ivan Toney, it’s understood he’s preferring a move to Chelsea.
However, another striker that United have looked to this summer is Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The report from Football Insider has commented that both United and Newcastle are considering a last minute move for Calvert-Lewin.
The news comes as the striker has rejected multiple contract renewal offers, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
The Toffees have previously rejected a bid of £40 million from Newcastle, however they may be forced to lower their asking price with the 27-year-old able to leave on a free transfer next year.
With Calvert-Lewin looking to move away from the club, the Red Devils could capitalise on the opportunity and secure another striker this summer.
