The news will no doubt come as a shock to many, considering Tel initially rejected Spurs.
According to Michael Bridge on Sky Sports News, Ange Postecoglou had a phone call with Tel where he explained how the attacker would fit in his style of play.
That in result, caused the change of mind from the player.
Tel was one who was on United’s radar, with initial interest dating back to early last week.
With Marcus Rashford out the door in the short-term, a place has opened up for a top, exciting attacker to join.
Tel stylistically would’ve posed as a like-for-like replacement to Rashford, considering their pace and threat in behind.
However, the 19-year-old has opted to player under Postecoglou for remaining of the season.

It will pose as a huge boost to Spurs on paper, with Timo Werner struggling for form and Heung-Min Son showing signs of decline.
United and Spurs have both been struggling this season, but Spurs may well move swiftly above United once the window shuts with Tel’s addition.
The hierarchy at United will be turning attention to elsewhere, in search of bringing in the winger that United fans will be hoping for.
Garnacho was another who was expected to depart, with interest from Chelsea.
However, it seems likely that the Argentinian will now stay for the time being.
Time is running out though, United need to act fast.
