We’re in the final week of the transfer market and as expected, things are really heating up as we come to the end, especially for one Manchester United midfielder.

Already this week a deal for Hannibal Mejbri has been agreed to sell the midfielder to Burnley, Manuel Ugarte is on his way to Old Trafford in a move worth €50million (£42.3 million) plus a further €10 million (£8.4 million) in add-ons, with Scott McTominay outward bound to Napoli.

The Italian club have already agreed a fee with the midfielder, matching United’s asking price of €30 million (£25.4 million) for the midfielder, with United also retaining an unknown sell-on fee.

It’s understood that McTominay has agreed to a contract what will see him with the Serie A side for four years until 2028.

News from The Athletic have reported that Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is expected to travel today (Tuesday 27th August) to complete his move to Napoli.

Whilst Erik ten Hag did not want to lose McTominay after his career best ten goals last season and impressive performances at Euro 2024 and through the pre-season, United could not guarantee the minutes he wanted.

Ultimately, McTominay has been aware of this, so has been taking his time to get his next club right. Throughout the summer we’ve seen eight different clubs declare interest in the midfielder, however he only agreed to terms with one before Napoli which was Galatasaray.

Fulham led an extremely aggressive race for McTominay’s signature, with three different submissions, eventually matching the asking price last Monday before then abandoning the deal.

As McTominay is a graduate of United’s academy, his sale will be registered as ‘pure profit’ under the Premier League and UEFA’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
