Are Manchester United set to sign two more players?

It could very well be the case.

After summer signing Leny Yoro suffered an injury that leaves him sidelined for three months, many wondered whether the club would go back into the market.

United have been linked with numerous defensive prospects over the summer transfer window.

Jarrad Branthwaite was one name linked with Old Trafford. But it seems that the Branthwaite link has since subsided.

After that, the majority of the news has surrounded the right-back position.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka having agreed terms with West Ham United, a new right-back was believed to be the main priority.

But the Yoro injury has sparked conversation again.

We seem to have an answer.

Not surprisingly, United have gone in for two players that the club have been heavily linked with recently.

David Ornstein from The Athletic has just tweeted that Manchester United have submitted a joint offer to sign both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

It is believed that the bid has been rejected.

Bayern’s rejection has reportedly caused some bemusement in the camp of De Ligt and Mazraoui — both represented by Rafaela Pimenta — based on their understanding of what it would require to get a deal over the line.

Bayern want a higher fee than what United have offered, but talks are continuing between the two sides.

Ornstein states that personal terms are already in place for both players.
