Ruben Amorim continues to wait for additions to strengthen Manchester United’s defence.
Their main top target for the left wing-back position, may not be available this summer as initially hoped.
United’s defensive struggles have been clear under Amorim, particularly with their vulnerability at set pieces.
The left wing-back position has been an ongoing concern.
Luke Shaw, once a regular, has been plagued by injuries, including his infamous leg break in 2015.
Tyrell Malacia, Shaw’s backup, has also had his share of problems.
He recently returned after spending 17 months recovering from a severe knee injury.
During this time, Diogo Dalot has filled in at left-back but is far better suited to his natural role on the right.

Alphonso Davies was a target well known to United fans, as reported here on CentreDevils.
The latest development was that United were dealt a blow, with Davies set to extend his contract at Bayern Munich.
However, that doesn’t now appear to be the case.
According to journalist Christian Falk on X, Davies’ agent will leave Munich tomorrow.
He will leave the vicinity after a meeting in aim of reaching an agreement for a new deal.
That agreement hasn’t been reached, meaning the door for potential suitors is still open.
Nick Househ, agent of Davies, is expected to hold meetings with Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and United.

This all goes to suggest that United’s chances of landing the left-back is still quite high.
Moreso, considering United have long been interested in the Canadian, dating back to October 2024.
Davies would very much provide much needed balance and attacking threat down the left flank in wing-back role.
It would be a signing of huge backing should the Red Devils be able to pull it off.
