Manchester United are set to face off with Real Madrid in the pursuit of one of their key transfer targets.

This summer saw the clubs do battle for the signing of centre-back Leny Yoro.

The “generational talent” made his name at LOSC Lille, however at only 18 years old, he caught the eye of some of Europe’s top teams.

Both United and Madrid set they sights on him, determined to sign him ahead of this season.

Initially Yoro preferred the thought of moving to the Spanish capital, with no interest in the Premier League.

However, United managed to swoop in a lure the defender to England, with him close to recovery to finally get his competitive debut.

United will need to work their magic once more if they hope to sign their next key target.

Real Madrid lead the race for Alphonso Davies

Manchester United have set their sights now on Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies, with the left-back being a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.

Davies is in the final year of his contract, with the defender eligible to negotiate a free transfer in January.

United were offering the star a “blank cheque” to choose his wage in an attempt to sign the world-class full-back.

However reports from Spain now suggest that Madrid have won the race.

Tribuna has reported that Davies has agreed on a move to the Spanish capital ahead of Summer 2025.

According to the report, the deal is done, just awaiting paperwork to give the official sign off in January.

Davies is clear about his intentions, stating he will join Madrid once his contract with Bayern Munich ends.

However, this may not be a massive blow to United, with the club reportedly now focusing once more on Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as a long-term option.
