This week is seeing Manchester United’s search to strengthen their midfield reach new levels with three main targets emerging for Erik ten Hag’s side.
It’s well known that United are pursuing Manuel Ugarte, with the Red Devils on the brink of submitting their first official offer for the Uruguayan estimated at €35 million.
It’s been reported by sports journalist Fabrizio Romano that United and Ugarte have already agreed personal terms, with all set for the star to join Old Trafford once a fee is agreed with PSG.
Alongside the 23-year-old, veteran of the game Adrien Rabiot is also being considered with the star being a free agent after departing from Juventus.
United have been keen followers of Rabiot for some time now with Ten Hag admiring the French star. Throughout his time at PSG and Juventus as well as in his appearances for the French national team, Rabiot has always been strong in the centre of the pitch, a trait which United have been lacking.
However now, The Telegraph have announced that United are also looking at Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi fresh of his Euro 2024 win with Spain.
The 25-year-old has emerged as a new target for United, with the star’s limited but impressive showing at the European Championships most likely to be the reason for United’s interest. The defensive midfielder showed a great energy across his four appearances at the tournament and is being considered as an option to play alongside Kobbie Mainoo in defensive midfield.
At club level, Zubimendi has been a vital part of the Real Sociedad team, helping the Spanish outfit into the Round of 16 in the Champions League, knocked out by PSG, to the semi-finals of the Copa Del Rey, and achieve a sixth place finish in LaLiga.
It’s unsure at this time if United are looking to sign all three players or a combination of them, however the three options would definitely bring a lot of strength to the heart of the pitch at Old Trafford.
