The saga of Marcus Rashford and his inevitable departure from Old Trafford has taken another twist, as Manchester United have hit a stumbling block in their bid to sell the attacker.

Rashford announced his upcoming departure from United last month as an interview was released just after he was dropped from the squad to face Manchester City.

Since then Rashford has missed five matches and been an unused substitute against Newcastle, with The Red Devils yet to win a game since beating City.

Recent reports have suggested that United are looking at using the 27-year-old in a player-swap deal to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has left Osimhen out of his long-term plans, instead loaning him to Galatasaray. However, Conte is reportedly interested in Rashford, with Amorim keen to being in-form Osimhen to Old Trafford.

However, AC Milan are also looking to the England international.

AC Milan experience set back in pursuit of Marcus Rashford

The Italian side are reportedly looking at a loan deal with an option to buy, with United considering contributing towards his sizable £325,000 a week salary while on loan.

This is a move United have done before when wanting to offload their unwanted stars, contributing to Jadon Sancho’s wage when he was loaned back to Borussia Dortmund.

However, these wages appear to be the key factor behind a sticking point in the deal of moving to the San Siro.

Sky Sports Italy have revealed that the star’s astronomical salary is providing difficulties for the Serie A side.

Rashford’s salary has already ruled out Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, being too expensive when a series of clubs are already experiencing financial pressures.

Whilst a loan may be possible with the financial support of United, a permanent move is a wider issue, with the club having to foot the bill entirely on their own.
