Manchester United are keen to sign a striker before Monday’s 11 pm transfer deadline.
However, as things stand, a new arrival looks unlikely.
United had a loan offer rejected for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
Christopher Nkunku has been considered as an option, although concrete progress is yet to be made.
Ruben Amorim addressed the transfer situation after the 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
“We are trying everything to improve the team,” Amorim told reporters.
He emphasised the need to balance urgency with avoiding past mistakes.
Despite links to Tel and Nkunku, a deal remains unlikely for either.

Another United target, Evan Ferguson, has agreed to join West Ham on loan.
Meanwhile, Stefanos Tzimas has completed a move to Brighton.
The Greek forward was previously on loan at FC Nürnberg from PAOK Salonika.
Tuttomercato reported United, Arsenal, and Liverpool had shown interest.
However, Brighton moved quickly and secured a €25m deal with add-ons.
Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg confirmed the move before the deadline.

Nürnberg initially signed Stefanos Tzimas for €18m before selling him for a €7m profit.
Brighton announced the deal on Monday morning via an official statement.
Tzimas signed a contract until June 2030 but will stay on loan at Nürnberg.
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler praised the forward’s natural goal-scoring ability.
“He is an exceptional young talent,” Hürzeler said after the signing.

Technical director David Weir confirmed Tzimas will stay in Germany for now.
“We will keep a close eye on his progress,” Weir stated in Brighton’s announcement.
The Greek international will officially join Brighton in the summer.
United fans will be hoping for attacking quality to be brought in on deadline day.
However the club must ensure that they make the right decision in regards to what the squad needs.
Should another raw player join, questions would be asked in regards to the transfer police.
Balance is needed in terms of elite experience, something United currently lack.
