Manchester City are preparing for a busy summer as changes loom at the Etihad Stadium, with sporting director Hugo Viana already drawing up plans to reshape the squad.

Several players could be on their way out.

The likes of Jack Grealish, who has fallen down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order, and James McAtee, who is attracting interest from multiple clubs including United.

If both depart, City will need reinforcements in wide areas.

One of the players being considered is a Portuguese winger who has been compared to Luis Figo and is enjoying a standout season in Liga Portugal.

The 25-year-old has registered eight goals and 15 assists in 32 appearances, catching the eye of numerous top clubs.

Manchester United to battle with noisy neighbours for Francisco Trincao

CaughtOffside report that Manchester City are among the sides monitoring Francisco Trincao, who is valued at around £34 million (€40m) by Sporting CP.

United boss Ruben Amorim, who previously managed Trincao at Sporting, is keen to reunite with the former Barcelona talent and has personally urged the club to move for him.

Amorim is a long-time admirer of the winger’s intelligence and technique, seeing him as a fit for his evolving United side.

At City, Viana’s admiration for Trincao also plays a central role in the pursuit.

The former midfielder is said to have personally endorsed the move, as City weigh up wide options following Florian Wirtz’s prioritisation for the 2025/26 season as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

City’s interest in Trincao was revealed earlier this year in March, further showing City’s desire in their pursuit for the talent.

Trincao’s skillset has long drawn comparisons with Portuguese legend Figo.

His former manager Abel Ferreira once told Sport: “His traits as a player are most similar to Figo’s… he wasn’t an extremely pacey winger but he was skilful and could beat players.”

With both Manchester clubs seriously tracking Trincao, a transfer battle could be on the cards.

A move to England might just be what unlocks the next level of his potential.
