Manchester United’s summer under Ruben Amorim has been defined by bold calls and ambitious signings that’s rapidly transforming the squad.

The arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined fee north of £130 million have strengthened United’s attack, but the focus is now shifting towards trimming the squad.

While fans remain hopeful of a new striker signing, United has made it clear they won’t spend big again without major outgoings.

In the meantime, a long-serving member of the squad appears to be inching towards the exit door.

Luke Shaw is considering his Manchester United future, with interest from Saudi Arabia intensifying ahead of a potential January move, as per The Sun.

The 30-year-old left-back, who has endured an injury-ravaged spell at Old Trafford, is open to offers as he enters the final two years of his contract.

Luke Shaw made just 12 appearances last season, having missed the first three months due to a persistent calf issue, and only returned to start the Europa League final in May – a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham – where he was deployed in an unfamiliar back-three role.

With Patrick Dorgu now ahead of him in the pecking order and 18-year-old Diego Leon impressing Amorim in pre-season, Shaw’s chances of regular minutes are rapidly decreasing.

Leon featured in last weekend’s goalless draw with Leeds and earned praise from Amorim, who said:
“He did really well.

“He’s learning things, he’s powerful, he’s going to be a very good player.”

Diogo Dalot has also cemented his place as a starter on the left side in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 setup, further complicating Shaw’s route to the first team.

Although Shaw is currently part of the United squad touring the USA – and played against Leeds – sources suggest he is aware he’s merely making up the numbers ahead of the new campaign.

The England international’s time at United has been plagued by injuries, most notably the horrific double leg break suffered in 2015 that nearly led to amputation, and has sidelined him for a cumulative total of nearly five years.

Despite being a respected presence in the dressing room and still earning £150,000 per week, Shaw knows a big decision awaits – one that could see his Old Trafford journey end by the turn of the year.
