Liverpool are looking to remodel their squad this summer as they brace to defend their Premier League title having already made several key signings.
Already Arne Slot has added Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz to his side from Bayer Leverkusen, with Milos Kerkez also joining from Bournemouth.
However, the club are still in need of a new striker.
Initially it looked as though the club were looking to find a replacement for Darwin Nunez, with Napoli pushing for his signing. However, Napoli are now looking at Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca, seemingly turning away from Nunez, although the Saudi Pro League could still be an option for him.

However, with the tragic and unexpected passing of Diogo Jota in recent weeks, Liverpool are in even more need to sign a striker this summer, with two clear targets in mind.
Firstly is Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak. However, as a backup if they can’t sign him, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is also in the mix.
Manchester United were also looking to Ekitike at the start of the summer transfer window, also desperately in need of a striker, however, Frankfurt’s valuation of around £87 million has put the striker out of reach for The Red Devils.

Now, The Athletic has reported that Liverpool have contacted the Bundesliga side over a potential move for the French striker.
It’s understood that Newcastle have already had one bid rejected for their priority target, now launching a bid matching the club’s asking price.
With Newcastle expressing that Isak is not for sale this summer, we could now see the two Premier League sides battle it out for Hugo Ekitike as Manchester United have to watch from the wings.
