Manchester United are once more looking across Europe in a bid to strengthen their squad this January.
Ruben Amorim is desperate to sign some fresh talent to the club, as United sit in 13th in the Premier League with some positions struggling to be filled in his system.
Notably the left-wing-back role is one that the Portuguese manager is having difficulties with.
The position has been a problem for some time, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia having sustained injuries ruling them out of action for over a year.
However, upon their return neither appeared to fit well into the role as Amorim wants it to be played.
On the right-flank Amad Diallo has shown his versatility to drop more defensively into the role, however none of the left-wingers are showing the same adaptability.
As such, United are looking outwardly to find a star who can come to Old Trafford and slot into the role instantly.
Their search has taken them to Italy, with Napoli‘s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as a primary target.

Liverpool comment on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia links
Whilst it’s been reported that United’s main competition for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is French giants PSG, Premier League rivals Liverpool have also been scouting the star for some time.
The talented winger, labelled as “the next Mo Salah” has been on Liverpool’s radar since the summer, with Salah’s future at the club uncertain, due to leave the club in July.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the Premier League leaders may no longer be in the race for Kvaratskhelia.
Taking to X, Romano reported Arne Slot’s comments as saying: “What I make of that is that it’s January… 99 times out of 100 it becomes clear almost all these stories are not true”.
He added: “The rumours keep going”.
These comments from the Liverpool manager don’t completely deny interest in the left winger, however, it would suggest that United’s primary contest still sits with PSG.
Manchester United have reportedly made concrete talks with the 22-year-old, however will need to make sales first before any signing can be made.
