In what has been a turbulent season for Manchester United, their goal-scoring woes have raised significant concern, with the club currently sitting among the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League.

With only 39 goals from 34 matches, United are struggling to find the back of the net, and their attacking issues have become a pressing concern for Ruben Amorim.

The current forward line, consisting of Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho, has been underwhelming, forcing United to reconsider their options ahead of the summer transfer window.

With the Europa League still offering a route to Champions League qualification, the pressure is mounting for United to strengthen their attack.

While a deal for Matheus Cunha seems to be in the works, Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has emerged as a top target for the club.

Despite Ipswich’s struggles this season, Delap has impressed with his performances, contributing 12 goals and two assists in 33 Premier League appearances.

His performances have sparked the interest of multiple top clubs, including Chelsea, Newcastle, and even Juventus.

However, the most recent twist in Delap’s potential move to Old Trafford involves his salary demands.

According to The Evening Chronicle, the striker is reportedly asking for a wage package between £120,000 to £150,000 per week, which would place him on par with Manchester United’s established stars, such as Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen.

This hefty wage request could prove to be a stumbling block for United, especially with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s push to reduce the club’s overall wage bill.

Despite the financial challenges, it is understood that Delap has activated a £30m relegation release clause, making him an even more enticing option for United, especially with multiple clubs vying for his signature.

However, with European football likely to be a deciding factor in his move, the question remains whether United can meet his salary demands or if competition from other suitors will take Liam Delap elsewhere.

Kieran McKenna, a former United assistant and now Ipswich manager, has recently praised Delap’s potential but admitted that the youngster could soon be ready for the elite level.

“Can Liam play for the biggest clubs in the country, the biggest clubs in the world? He certainly can.

As the summer transfer window draws near, United are facing a difficult decision: pursue Liam Delap and his substantial salary demands or explore other options to resolve their attacking issues.
