Ruben Amorim’s first summer in charge of Manchester United is already shaping up to be one of bold moves and quick pivots as the club prepares for a major squad overhaul.

The Portuguese manager is wasting no time as United push to regain their place among Europe’s elite, with a number of high-profile transfers already in motion.

A £62.5 million deal for Wolves striker Matheus Cunha is nearing completion, with a medical expected in the coming days.

It has also been reported that both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are no longer part of Amorim’s long-term plans at Old Trafford, with permanent exits now on the cards.

This clear-out has added urgency to United’s search for reinforcements in the final third, with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap identified as a top target.

Liam Delap, who scored 12 Premier League goals for the relegated Tractor Boys, is available for £30 million due to a release clause in his contract.

United were among the first clubs to initiate contact with the 22-year-old’s camp.

However, it now appears that Chelsea have taken the lead in the race to sign him, as per talkSPORT.

The Stamford Bridge club’s ability to offer Champions League football is said to be a decisive factor.

Blues boss Enzo Maresca also has a personal connection with Delap, having worked with him during their time together at Manchester City, which is reportedly playing a big role in the striker’s thinking.

With Delap now edging towards a move to west London, United have quickly turned their attention to another proven Premier League attacker: Bryan Mbeumo.

As CentreDevils exclusively reported, United have enquired about the Brentford forward, who finished the 2024/25 campaign with 20 goals and seven assists.

At 25, Mbeumo is entering his peak years and has just 12 months left on his current contract.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has admitted the club could struggle to keep him, saying: “He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals.

“I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club.”

Mbeumo’s consistency, versatility, and eye for goal make him an ideal fit for Amorim’s high-pressing, attacking philosophy.
