Manchester United’s absence from Europe in the coming season has prompted a major reshuffle of the senior and academy squads.
Since INEOS’ arrival, the club have shown a firmer emphasis on the development of young talents.
Not just in signing talents, but the Red Devils are also making smart decisions for outgoings.
With fewer matches to rotate across, several highly rated youngsters have been sent on loan to aid their development – Jack Moorhouse being one of the standout names.
The 19-year-old midfielder signed a new contract earlier this week, tying his long-term future down to United.
However, he was expected to leave on a temporary deal amid interest from several clubs, following a strong year with the U21s and a promising post-season tour in Asia.
Now, as confirmed on Leyton Orient’s official club website, Moorhouse has officially completed a season-long loan to the League One side.
He becomes Orient’s 11th summer signing and will wear the red of the O’s for the 2025/26 campaign.
His loan move forms part of a broader plan to blend youth progression with first-team consistency under Ruben Amorim.
“I’m buzzing to be here,” Moorhouse said upon signing.
“The manager was a big part of my decision… he’s a former Man United player himself, and I feel like I can learn a lot from him.”
Moorhouse, who joined United at U9 level, was named on the bench for the senior side’s clash with Spurs in February and recently made his Republic of Ireland U21 debut.
Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens said:
“He’s an extremely talented footballer.
“He’s a midfield player who can change the dynamic of a game… it’s a really exciting signing for us.”
Director of Football Martin Ling added: “Jack is someone we’ve been after ever since we heard that he was available for a loan this season.
“He’s extremely highly thought of at Manchester United, shown by his involvement in and around the first team squad.
“He’s a dynamic player who loves to go forward, and we’re excited to see what he can do for us.
“As I said last week, we have utilised the loan market really well.
“I think that’s shown that a club like Manchester United think that Orient is the best place for Jack to develop.”
