Leeds United are back in the Premier League after two seasons away in the Championship following their relegation in 2023.
The following year, Leeds looked like they’d be heading back up, coming third overall, however were defeated 1-0 by Southampton in the play-offs final thanks to a goal by Adam Armtrong.
The following year, Leeds made no mistakes, gaining automatic promotion by winning the Championship, earning their return to the top flight.
Now, The Whites are looking to fierce rivals Manchester United in a bid to bolster their squad in the middle of the pitch.
MOTLeedsNews has now reported that Leeds are looking to make the most of the uncertain future of Kobbie Mainoo and bring the 20-year-old to Elland Road on loan.

Mainoo has been an unused substitute in the first two games of the 2025/26 Premier League season, having fallen down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.
It’s recently been revealed that the reason for it comes down to his speed and his reluctance to get involved in the games.
As such, his contract negotiations at Old Trafford have stalled, reaching a stalemate, leaving his future with United in doubt.
Leeds are reported one of 10 clubs interested in the England international as he sits on the fringe of the United first team, despite an incredible breakthrough season under Erik ten Hag which saw him get nominated for the coveted Golden Boy award.
Whilst Kobbie Mainoo hasn’t expressed any desire to leave Old Trafford, a loan move could be a good option for the midfielder as opposed to sitting on the bench, having a lack of game time.
However, given the rivalry between Manchester United and Leeds United, it’s unlikely that The Red Devils would sanction the loan move unless Mainoo grows significantly more unsettled in the final days of the transfer window.
