When Rasmus Hojlund joined Manchester United, he was viewed as a potential long-term solution at number nine, a striker who could lead the line for the next decade.
While he arrived as a raw talent, there was confidence he would develop into a top-class forward.
Hojlund possessed many of the natural attributes required for the role: clean ball striking, sharp movement, and the physical presence to hold off defenders.
However, he has struggled to adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League, often being muscled off the ball and failing to bring it under control, while also battling inconsistency in front of goal.
These difficulties have prompted United to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, casting uncertainty over Hojlund’s future at the club.
Hojlund has been linked away with a number of clubs this window, including RB Leipzig and Inter Milan.
However, the next club to show interest in the Danish striker is AC Milan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have begun discussions through intermediaries over a potential deal for Rasmus Hojlund.
The proposed terms include a €6 million loan fee, a €45 million buy option, and full coverage of his salary.
However, the main obstacle remains Hojlund himself, as he has yet to agree to the move.
With Benjamin Sesko arriving and expected to be United’s first-choice striker, it was thought Hojlund might accept a transfer to reignite his career.
That speculation grew after he received no minutes in United’s pre-season match against Fiorentina.
Despite this, reports suggest he is still determined to stay and fight for his place.
While his determination is admirable, United will be hoping he can be convinced to make the switch, as his departure could help raise much-needed funds for midfield and goalkeeping targets before the transfer window closes.
