Manchester United’s pursuit on Joao Neves is well known, with the Red Devils having already submitted a €60 million bid for the young midfielder.

Ultimately, Benfica’s president Rui Costa rejected the initial bid, holding out for offers of over €100 million.

However, United haven’t stopped fighting for the Portuguese wonderkid.

Unfortunately for United, they aren’t the only club interested in signing the 19-year-old. Both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have been linked to the midfielder’s signature.

With the midfielder’s contract having a release clause of €120 million, and the Portguese club asking for not much less than this, United are reportedly now looking elsewhere for midfield reinforcements, with the Red Devils looking at Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton as an alternative.

Now, reports out of Portugal with publication A Bola have claimed that Neves may indeed be on the move.

The report explains that the 19-year-old is getting closer to a move to the French capital.

PSG and Benfica are reportedly engaged in “intense negotiations” with a deal expected to be agreed soon.

The details are unknown at this time but are expected to be around €70 million.

Neves is said to be favouring a move to Paris due to PSG’s Portuguese base as the strongest argument to support better integration.

Whilst United were rumoured to be looking at a second offer of around the €75 million mark, news on this has gone silent.

The club has instead focused more on the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, so time will tell if United will attempt to make another move for Neves.

For now, it seems that Ligue 1 will be the next destination in his career.
