Manchester United’s centre-back target Jean-Clair Todibo is set to join the Premier League with the defender flying to England for his medical.
The centre-back was one of three priority targets announced by United at the start of the summer, also featuring Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Juventus’ Gleison Bremer.
Todibo himself confirmed that the Red Devils had been in contact with him around personal terms for a move to Old Trafford.
United had a slight advantage going into the race for the 24-year-old having had first hand knowledge of the star. Not only did he complete a trial with the Red Devils when he was 17, but INEOS who are the minority stake holders at United also own OGC Nice.
Unfortunately for United though, this moves was not mean to be, with Todibo on his way to London instead.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Todibo to West Ham
Now, Todibo has received a famous Fabrizio Romano “here we go” on his move to England.
The sports journalist has confirmed that West Ham United have signed the star, subject to medical. Todibo is currently flying to London with his representatives to complete the medical assessment and ultimately become a Hammer.
The deal is for a loan spell with a €40 million obligation to buy, including an unknown sell on clause percentage.
West Ham’s signing of the 24-year-old comes on the back of The Hammers stepping away from their deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The right-backs demands for a £7 million signing on fee proved too much for either club to agree to with Manchester United not wanting to part ways nearly 40% of the £18 million transfer fee.
It’s unknown if West Ham are fully stepping away or if we’ll see them make a play to sign him on a free in January.
