Manchester United are preparing for another dramatic transfer window as uncertainty continues to swirl around the future of one of their loaned-out stars.

The Red Devils have already begun early planning ahead of what could be a pivotal summer under Ruben Amorim, with the club expected to make key decisions involving both arrivals and departures.

As it stands, United are still walking the fine line of Profit and Sustainability Rules, meaning every potential sale or retained player has implications on who the club can target.

While multiple high-profile names are on the shortlist, including attacking reinforcements like Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko, there is also intrigue about players who may yet return to Old Trafford — even if only briefly.

And now, a surprising U-turn could be on the cards involving Jadon Sancho.

Jadon Sancho was sent on loan to Chelsea last summer after falling out of favour at United, and the agreement reportedly included a £25 million obligation to buy — triggered only if the Blues finished 15th or higher in the Premier League this season.

That clause has officially been activated after Chelsea’s recent dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Fulham, which guaranteed a finish no lower than 13th for Enzo Maresca’s men.

However, despite that trigger, Chelsea are still exploring the option to withdraw from the permanent deal by paying a £5 million release penalty before the window opens.

Speaking in recent weeks, Maresca remained coy about Sancho’s long-term future, praising his contributions but hinting that the club’s focus remains on finishing the season strongly before making final decisions.

Jadon Sancho has registered three goals and ten assists in all competitions this season and is expected to feature again this weekend against Everton.

But unless Chelsea fully commit to the deal, United could be left with an unexpected dilemma — whether to reintegrate the winger or seek a fresh buyer to cash in swiftly.

That decision, much like Sancho’s form, could swing either way in the weeks ahead.
