Inter Milan are already planning a major overhaul ahead of the summer transfer window.
Several key players are expected to leave, raising funds for new arrivals.
Midfield reinforcements are a priority, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan nearing the end of his career.
Manchester United meanwhile, are in the process of a rebuild under Ruben Amorim.
The midfield department is in need of a huge revamp.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are expected to leave in the summer.
However, United may well be set to lose a player who only joined in 2023.
Inter Milan interested in Mason Mount
According to InterLive, Simone Inzaghi’s side are considering signing Mason Mount.
The 26-year-old has struggled at Manchester United since joining from Chelsea in 2023.
Persistent injuries have limited him to just 12 appearances this season, mostly from the bench.
Mount was pivotal under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea in a 3-4-3 system.
His work rate and tactical intelligence made him a key figure in Tuchel’s midfield.
Ruben Amorim uses a similar setup, which could make Mount a great fit at Inter.
However, Mount played a lot of football in 2021/22, which seems to have caught up with him.
Inzaghi wants a midfielder who can dictate play and create chances in the final third.

Inter see Mount’s current situation as an opportunity to sign him at a cut price.
His value has reportedly dropped to €30 million after a difficult spell at Old Trafford.
Mount’s agents are already exploring potential moves away from United.
Inter prefer a loan deal with an option to buy rather than a permanent transfer.
This would allow them to assess his performances while United cover part of his wages.
Despite his injury troubles, Inter believe Mount could revive his career in Serie A.
If he can stay fit, his energy and versatility would make him an asset under Amorim.
