Hugo Ekitike is one of the world’s top transfer targets right now when it comes to signing a striker.
Last season, the Eintracht Frankfurt frontman grabbed 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 games for the Bundesliga side after his loan move last season was made permanent in the summer for around £14 million (€16.5 million).
Now, the German side are looking to offload the striker for around £87 million (€100 million), making a massive profit on the 23-year-old.

For a while, it looked as though Ekitike would be headed to Anfield as Premier League champions Liverpool appeared to be front-runners in the race for the talented striker.
However, out of nowhere, Newcastle United have emerged in the driving seat, leaving Liverpool and Manchester United in their wake as they close in on their key target.
Over the course of the summer, Ekitike’s not only had interest from the Premier League trio, but also Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who Bild have reported as the only other club still in the race.

However, the report goes on to give Newcastle a massive boost, claiming they are the preferred destination for Hugo Ekitike this summer, saying it’s “Newcastle or nothing.”
Newcastle’s initial offer of £70 million (€80 million) was rejected by Frankfurt, who are determined to get their full asking price, with The Magpies now having increased their offer with a second bid to match the German side’s asking price of £87 million (€100 million).
With both Ekitike and Newcastle so clearly wanting to see the striker join The Magpies, it’s hard to imagine the deal won’t move to St James Park this summer, seeing United meet their transfer target in the Premier League next season.
