Manchester United are desperate to bounce back this season, with Ruben Amorim’s men looking to continue on from their recent win over Burnley when the Premier League gets back underway.

The 3-2 victory was United’s first win of the season, grabbing three points for The Red Devils thanks to goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes as well as a Josh Cullen own goal, sitting United in 9th place after three games.

Amorim is desperate to put last season behind him, having signed a wealth of new talent, such as goalscorer Mbeumo, not to mention Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and deadline day signing Senne Lammens.

However, he’s also seen several big names leave the club, surplus to requirements, such as academy graduates Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, as well as failed wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony.

As Garnacho was the only one to have routinely featured in Amorim’s squad last season, these departures haven’t been that much of a blow for the Portuguese manager, however losing a player like Harry Maguire would make more of an impact, with the centre-back being targeted overseas.

Last season Maguire found his form once more under Amorim, commanding the defence, and turning in a few vital goals the other end too.

Now, The Sun has reported that the former England international is being targeted by two Saudi Pro League teams with their transfer window still open until 23rd September.

However, Maguire has already rejected their advances, wanting to see out the rest of his contract by finishing the 2025/26 Premier League season with the Red Devils.

Whilst the centre-back has said he’d be open to a move to the Saudi Pro League next summer, he has also admitted that if United wanted to retain him past next summer, he could still remain at Old Trafford.

As such, Amorim is set to have the veteran defender at his disposal for at least the rest of the season.
