Manchester United are entering a critical phase of their summer rebuild, with Ruben Amorim pushing ahead with bold transfer plans.
The Portuguese head coach has already made major attacking investments with the additions of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, as United aim to reinvigorate their frontline.
The Red Devils are also pressing ahead with their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, having shifted focus away from Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins after being told a deal was off the table.
With Sesko prioritised to lead the line in a new-look attack, United’s recruitment team have now turned their attention to addressing other areas of the squad, including their options between the sticks.
In a surprise development, fresh reports have claimed that Manchester United are in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 26-year-old Italy international, currently in the final year of his contract at PSG, is facing an uncertain future in the French capital as the Ligue 1 champions close in on a £26million deal for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier.
Initial claims suggested that there had been no contact between United and PSG, with Donnarumma reportedly open to remaining at the Champions League winners and fighting for his place.
However, respected reporter Jan Aage Fjortoft now states, via X, that talks to bring Gianluigi Donnarumma to Old Trafford are “on”, signalling a significant shift in the situation.
It has been reported that PSG are braced for a fresh approach from United once their deal for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier is finalised.
The move would represent a major statement from Ruben Amorim, who is believed to be open to replacing Andre Onana ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
While strengthening the forward line has been prioritised, the goalkeeper position has become an emerging topic within the recruitment setup.
Donnarumma, a long-time United-linked talent, could provide top-level experience and presence at the back, with Amorim reportedly keen to assess his current No.1 situation more closely.
As it stands, negotiations remain ongoing and no final agreement has been reached — but momentum appears to be building around what could be a blockbuster summer arrival at the Theatre of Dreams.
Re: Donnarumma and Manchester United
There were some reports yesterday that this was a non-starter. That’s not correct!
Just been told that this process is ON. There are talks going on
