Manchester United’s search for reinforcements between the posts has taken another twist as the transfer window edges closer to its climax.

The Reds have already been busy preparing for what is expected to be a huge season under Ruben Amorim, with the Portuguese boss eager to put his stamp on the squad after a challenging start to life at Old Trafford.

Injuries have tested the depth of the team, particularly in goal, where the absence of a reliable deputy has often left the club in a vulnerable position.

With domestic fixtures piling up, United are refusing to take chances in one of the most important positions on the pitch.

The transfer market has been buzzing across Europe, with several Premier League rivals also strengthening their goalkeeping departments, but United are determined to act decisively in their own pursuit.

That pursuit has now led them to Antwerp’s Senne Lammens, a 23-year-old goalkeeper who has made it clear that his dream move would be to Manchester United.

Despite being under the radar for some time, United finally stepped up their interest last week, with discussions advancing towards an agreement in the region of €20 million (£17 million).

However, their move is under serious threat from Galatasaray, who remain desperate to derail the transfer, as per HBVL.

The Turkish champions had already shown their hand in early July, even sending representatives to Austria while Antwerp were in camp to push through a deal.

Talks were held at the team hotel, but Senne Lammens indicated his preference for a move to the Premier League rather than heading to Istanbul.

Galatasaray, refusing to back down, have now increased their offer in a last-ditch attempt to tempt Antwerp, but sources close to the player insist his mind is set on Old Trafford.

For Lammens, the chance to become United’s first-choice goalkeeper represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, something he has no intention of passing up.

The coming days will prove decisive as United look to fend off Galatasaray’s advances and secure their latest signing.
