Manchester United’s goalkeeping dilemma has been a major talking point throughout the 2025–26 transfer window as Ruben Amorim considers his options ahead of a long season.
The battle between the posts is just as crucial as the Red Devils’ attempts to improve defensive stability, despite their large expenditures on attacking reinforcements.
The Red Devils’ offence has improved after they signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
However, there is still a great demand for a goalie.
Altay Bayindir made yet another mistake and cost the Red Devils a goal against Arsenal in yesterday’s game against Burnley.
Andre Onana made two blunders in United’s Carabao Cup game against Grimsby Town.
The player who has come the closest to joining the Red Devils is Senne Lammens.
Although the Belgian goalie is eager to join, United and Royal Antwerp still need to agree on a fee.
And now one of Bayindir and Onana could be on their way out.

According to BBC Sport, Turkish side Galatasaray are interested in Lammens but could also move for Bayindir or Onana, should United decide the Belgium youth international is their preferred option.
It is being stressed by United sources they will only sign one goalkeeper at most before the window closes at 19:00 BST on Monday.
This situation could work to Manchester United’s favour, as they could move on one of their goalkeepers while bringing someone new like Lammens in.
The Red Devils also made contact with Aston Villa over a move for Emiliano Martinez as a backup.
A move for Lammens is still considered more likely given personal terms being agreed.
With Galatasaray aiming to get a new goalkeeper before the window ends, the Red Devils will aim to seal the Lammens deal fast.
Bayindir or Onana could very much be on their way to the Turkish giants.
