United are on the hunt for midfielders in order to strengthen the middle of the pitch going forwards.
With Casemiro and Christian Eriksen both likely to leave this summer, the Red Devils need some strong alternatives to help get the team back to their winning ways.
Erik ten Hag has found absolute stars in Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho after both Golden Boy contenders have graduated from the United academy.
To support the young stars, United have shortlisted Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, PSG’s Manuel Ugarte and RedBull Leipzig’s Dani Olmo.
Now, reports from Italian publication Football Italia suggest that the Red Devils are looking to a free agent to support the midfield next season.
The report explains that French midfielder Adrien Rabiot will be ‘holding talks’ with United. The purpose of the talks appear to be around signing the experienced midfielder on a free transfer to join Erik ten Hag’s side.
After five years at Juventus, the defensive midfielder has decided to part ways with the Serie A club at the end of his contract.
United originally looked to sign Rabiot two years ago however the move broke down due to the Red Devils not wanting to meet the midfielder’s wage demands.
It is reported that United are one of a number of clubs who are now looking to sign the French star, including United’s Premier League rivals, Liverpool. Reports suggest that he will be ‘discussing’ his future with both English clubs.
