Manchester United has had a robust start to the 2024 transfer window, securing the signatures of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and Leny Yoro from Lille, outmaneuvering Real Madrid in the process.
These two acquisitions, amounting to a combined £88 million, have necessitated the sale of players to finance further transfers.
Erik ten Hag’s squad has already seen departures, including Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Alvaro Fernandez.
The club is now focused on bolstering key positions, aiming to bring in a midfielder, a right-back, and a centre-back.
Initially, it was expected that further sales would be necessary to fund these acquisitions, with Jadon Sancho anticipated to leave Old Trafford this summer.
However, in a surprising turn of events last month, it was announced that the 24-year-old Sancho had rejoined training after resolving issues with manager Erik ten Hag.
Previously, Juventus had been significantly interested in the winger, but this interest has waned.
Juventus & Dortmund walk away from Jadon Sancho deal
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Juventus are “no longer in the race” to sign Sancho this summer.
Borussia Dortmund also finds the deal too expensive, with United reportedly wanting around £40 million for the winger.
“Juventus were among the clubs really interested in Jadon Sancho, they are no longer in the race, they are looking at different options,” Romano told The United Stand.
“Borussia Dortmund consider this deal too expensive.
“PSG have an interest, yes they spoke to the agents of the player, they never reached out to Manchester United to make a proposal or open a negotiation.”
Despite no offers being made for Sancho yet, Romano clarified that the situation remains “open,” and there is still a possibility that he could depart before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
He added: “I think the situation of Sancho is still open.
“Now it is different, the player is integrated into the group, they want an important proposal to let Sancho go.
“I think it’s still something around £40 to £45 million in that region. It depends on the opportunity.”
Sancho has been featuring as a centre-forward in the last few pre-season games due to Rasmus Højlund’s absence.
He may even start as the striker against his former club, Manchester City, on Saturday at Wembley Stadium.
