Manchester United’s search for a new striker has dominated the club’s summer transfer window.
Despite securing early deals for Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United have long made it clear that a top-class number nine remains a priority.
But that search has been far from straightforward, with pursuits of Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap both ending in disappointment.
Hugo Ekitike too, who was linked with United countless times, ended up moving to Liverpool.
As a result, the focus has since shifted almost entirely to Benjamin Sesko.
The Slovenian is currently weighing up his future amid interest from both United and Newcastle.
And now, with a decision from Sesko still pending, a fresh opportunity has emerged for United to consider.
According to Fabrizio Romano on his latest transfer YouTube show, Dusan Vlahovic has been offered to Manchester United in recent days.
Juventus are known to be open to selling the Serbian striker this summer, with the forward willing to take a pay cut to join.
Vlahovic is no longer part of Juventus’ long-term project, and his representatives have made it known that a deal could be done if United are interested.
However, Romano adds that United’s response so far has been cautious.
The Red Devils are still firmly focused on trying to land Sesko before exploring alternative options.
Should Sesko choose Newcastle, Vlahovic is viewed as one of the names already “on the table” for the Old Trafford hierarchy.
It’s also worth noting that Vlahovic was offered to United earlier this year, in a possible swap deal for Joshua Zirkzee.
Although the club opted not to pursue the move, instead exploring other attacking options such as Liam Delap at the time.
United fans will surely be disappointed should the club end up signing Vlahovic after weeks of chasing Sesko.
Panic signings have generally not ended well for the club over recent years – Sesko remains the target for now.
