The day has finally arrived, and Manchester United have agreed terms with Brentford over signing Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
It’s been a long time coming, with this being United’s third official bid, having their second offer of £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons, matching the fee The Red Devils paid for Matheus Cunha.
However, despite Brentford arguing that Mbeumo and Cunha are comparable, so should be the same value, The Bees increased their offer once again to £70 million, stalling negotiations.

Now though, United’s improved bid of £71 million, made up of £65 million transfer fee and £6 million in bonuses, has been accepted, seeing the Cameroon international move to Old Trafford.
Whilst he won’t officially sign in time to join the squad in Sweden for their friendly with Leeds United, he should be with the squad for the Premier League Summer Series in the United States.
However, with Mbeumo in the bag, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed the club’s next priority.

Taking to X, Romano has confirmed the expectations that United’s recruitment team will now turn their attention to signing a striker, with confidence having faded in Rasmus Hojlund.
The Denmark international ranked worst in a list of Premier League strikers last season for both goals and assists per 90 minutes and for expected goals and assists per 90 minutes.
As such, Ruben Amorim needs a consistent and reliable striker to come in and bring some firepower to the club’s attack, sitting ahead of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
However, the signing of any striker now is reliant on United making sales to generate funds for their signing.
Thankfully Jadon Sancho is edging ever close to a move to Juventus, however this would only bring in £15 million to United as it stands.
Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony are also on United’s priority summer sales list, however aren’t as close to departing as Sancho.
