Manchester United are in a new era of transfers as the club have gone just over 12 months under the INEOS reign.
As such, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has come in, switching up The Red Devils’ transfer strategy to safeguard the club’s future.
Since last summer, United have been prioritising the signing of youthful players, of 26 years old or younger, who have the ability to continue growing to reach their full potential.
As such, United have signed to their senior squad talented teenagers Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven, as well as Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Patrick Dorgu, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte.
However, this summer, another key trait has been added into the mix to help the club minimise risk of signing as they’ve had several exciting talents join in the past from European leagues who have failed to adapt to the Premier League.
As such, The Red Devils are now targeting proven Premier League stars, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both ticking this box.
Now, as United continue to look to sign a striker, a midfielder and a goalkeeper, one of their shortlisted stars is desperate to return to England.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Juventus’ Douglas Luiz is keen to return to the Premier League, where he excelled with Aston Villa.
The central-midfielder spent five years at Villa Park, having moved from Manchester City in 2019 without ever having played a game for The Citizens.
Whilst with Villa, Douglas Luiz made 204 appearances, grabbing 22 goals and helping with 24 assists before moving to Turin.
However, his relationship with the Serie A side has completely broken down and as such he’s looking for a return to the Premier League.
With his experience at Villa, United have been keeping tabs on the 27-year-old however nothing has materialised as of yet.
