Manchester United are expected to prioritise signing a new striker in the summer transfer window as Ruben Amorim looks to solve his side’s lack of firepower.
Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have led the line for United this season.
However their struggles in front of goal have been a major factor in the club’s poor league position.
Zirkzee has managed just three Premier League goals, with Hojlund netting two.
The Red Devils sit in 14th place and well off the pace in the top-four race.

With United in need of a reliable goalscorer, speculation has linked the club with moves for Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
Meanwhile Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta has also emerged as a potential target.
The Frenchman has been in outstanding form under Oliver Glasner, scoring 16 league goals last season before adding another 12 this campaign.
The Eagles have reportedly set a £40m price tag on Mateta, making him a more cost-effective alternative to Osimhen or Gyokeres.
However, United’s decision on a new striker will be dictated by their budget, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Fabrizio Romano delivers transfer update
Romano has confirmed that while several names are being linked, United have yet to make a final call on their striker pursuit.
Speaking to GiveMeSport via his transfer newsletter, Romano stated:
“There are reports on Osimhen, Gyokeres, Mateta, there will be more.
“The reality is that Man United have not made any decision on the striker yet and the budget will make the difference.
“So it’s still early to know who they’re going to sign. Nothing advanced at this stage.”
With United’s summer transfer activity likely to be shaped by financial constraints, Amorim’s recruitment strategy will be under close scrutiny as he looks to reshape the squad.
