Manchester United are still looking to continue their squad rebuild this summer after already signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The pair have been brought in as proven Premier League talents, aiming to revitalise their attack, with a new striker still on the cards.
United are pushing hard to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, with Newcastle United also in the race, as the two sides fight for his signature.
Whilst the Slovenia international is yet to make a decision on where he’s going to play next season, recent reports have suggested he’s learning towards Ruben Amorim’s project at Old Trafford.
However, it’s not only the attack United are looking to recruit to.
For a long time, the Red Devils have also been linked to recruiting a goalkeeper and a central midfielder too, looking to replace Andre Onana and find a long-term replacement for Casemiro.
Whilst United have been linked with the likes of Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens, it now seems that Amorim is opting to stand by Onana, giving him a major vote of confidence.
However, recent reports have indicated United are looking to make a move for a new midfielder, with Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez on the cards.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has reported that no negotiations have taken place between The Red Devils and the LaLiga champions, with the 22-year-old set on remaining at Camp Nou.
Fermin Lopez has come through the Barca youth academy, being promoted to the senior side in 2023, and since then has become a key member of the side, grabbing 19 goals and 11 assists in 88 games.
If United are indeed looking at the talented midfielder, they’ll have to pitch a convincing argument to lure him away from his long-term club.
