Manchester United are looking to have a massive overhaul of their squad this January transfer window.
With the recent poor performances that saw Erik ten Hag sacked continuing into the start of Ruben Amorim‘s reign, it’s clear that a new class of Red Devils are needed to work in Amorim’s system.
As such, United are open to any offers for any one of their stars, with no-one off the table this January.
A main reason for this is that financial pressures are tying their hands, with the club desperate for sales to generate funds for any new transfers.
As expected, rumours are flying of clubs interested in United stars, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho being linked to Napoli, Kobbie Mainoo to Chelsea and Marcus Rashford to nearly every to European club.
However, sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has now spoken out denying recent reports claiming that a Serie A side is interested in a United defender.
Fabrizio Romano denies Como’s interest in Manchester United defender
Last week saw Como be linked with United, reportedly interested in two of their struggling stars.
Firstly, Como joined the ever growing list of teams wanting to sign Marcus Rashford, claiming his dramatic salary would be no issue for them.
However, Rashford’s team expressed no interest in the club, only looking to Europe’s elite as his next club.
Then came links that the Italian side were looking to Tyrell Malacia to boost their defence.
However, Romano has now dismissed the claims, saying: “he’s not a target for Italian side Como, no talks despite reports.”
The original report came from Alfredo Pedulla, claiming that in Como’s search for a left-back, Malacia was high up the shortlist, with Como showing keen interest in signing him.
Whilst this appears to be incorrect, according to Romano, the journalist has confirmed that Malacia is free to leave United.
The Red Devils are open to selling the left-back, however they would also consider a loan deal including a buy clause.
