Manchester United are continuing to pursue targets in the transfer market, as The Red Devils are looking to reinforce their midfield with Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba.

Despite having already signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and now Benjamin Sesko this summer, United aren’t finished strengthening their squad as Ruben Amorim is tasked with restoring the club to the top of world football.

Earlier this summer it was reported that United were looking to recruit a new striker, midfielder, wing-back and goalkeeper, so it’s no surprise that the club’s recruitment team are still looking at targets.

However, with the club struggling financially, the burden of £204.5 million having already been spent on the attacking trio means that sales are essential for any further signings, especially with Baleba’s hefty price tag.

It’s been reported that Brighton have put a valuation of £104 million on their midfielder in a bid to retain him this summer.

However, the Cameroon international is keen for a move to Old Trafford.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that despite the reported price tag, United are still in contact with Baleba’s agents.

Taking to his YouTube channel, Romano commented: “Manchester United still maintain contacts with the agent of Carlos Baleba.

He continued: “So contacts are still ongoing, at the moment they are still believe that the deal is really complicated, is really difficult.

“So at the moment, there is no concrete progress, but I’m told, just to add some details to the story, that Manchester United maintain contacts with the agents of the player.

“So let’s see what’s going to happen there.”

Whilst Carlos Baleba is keen for a move to Old Trafford, it’s also been reported that the midfielder is not willing to engage in any power struggles with his current club, so it’s unlikely we’ll see Baleba force a move like others have done this transfer season.
