The Red Devils will look to raise funds this summer, however they can, in the hopes of a squad rebuild, of sorts.

Ruben Amorim was named head coach in November and has endured a tough first season in charge.

His team sit 15th in the Premier League but could yet win the Europa League, with semi-final opponents Athletic Club due to visit Old Trafford for the second leg on Thursday.

But Amorim is keen to oversee a Premier League revitalisation next season, and will expect Manchester United transfer chiefs to support his demands in the market.

Matheus Cunha is expected to join the club, with negotiations underway, and Bryan Mbuemo, Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap are also linked.

Such moves will require significant expenditure, and United could raise some funds through an unexpected source.

Kovar on the move

According to Kicker, Matej Kovar will look to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer, following his move from United in 2023.

Leverkusen will hope to see at least some of the £4.2m they paid to the English club back.

United’s interest comes in the fact that they have a release clause on the Czech shot-stopper.

The Red Devils also have a buyback clause on Kovar, and with Andre Onana’s future looking uncertain, a move to bring the goalkeeper back could be possible.

Nonetheless, United will hope to receive a chunk of the fee if Kovar is to leave Leverkusen this summer, with INEOS likely taking a ‘every little helps’ attitude.

Reports also suggest Mason Greenwood could be on the move this summer, with the forward hoping for Premier League interest.

United have a similar deal in place with Marseille, which would see them net a significant chunk of any sale.
