Manchester United’s goalkeeping department is once again under the microscope ahead of what promises to be a busy summer of squad reshuffling.

With Andre Onana’s form still inconsistent and Altay Bayındır recent shaky Premier League appearance, questions remain over the long-term pecking order between the sticks.

Tom Heaton is expected to leave when his contract expires in June, and recent reports suggest Dean Henderson is happy at Crystal Palace, closing the door on his potential return.

Ruben Amorim is believed to be pushing for a more commanding presence in goal, someone capable of operating comfortably in his preferred high-line defensive system.

United scouts have recently been spotted at multiple Serie A matches, intensifying speculation that the club is looking to the Italian top flight for reinforcements.

Now, Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a shock return for a familiar face.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, who once formed part of United’s academy between 2014 and 2016, is being monitored closely after enjoying a standout season with Torino.

The Serbia international is widely regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in Serie A this campaign, with multiple clean sheets and commanding performances under his belt.

While his initial stint at United was disrupted by work permit complications, sources in Italy suggest the club could finally bring him back, nearly a decade later, as a fully developed goalkeeper.

Torino have set a €20m price tag on Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, matching his reported release clause that expires at the end of July.

United, however, are said to value the 28-year-old closer to €12m, hoping to negotiate a deal well below the clause before competition from clubs like Manchester City or Chelsea intensifies.

La Stampa, via CuoreToro, has claimed that a return to United would represent a ‘turning point’ for the keeper, who is now keen on proving himself at the highest level in England.

Tuttosport reported last month that he’s drawing interest from both Manchester City and Napoli.

His current deal runs until 2026, with an option for Torino to extend it further, meaning United will need to act quickly if they’re serious about sealing this emotional reunion.
