Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has joined Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen after the German side lost manager Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.
Alonso has returned to the Spanish capital, having played for Los Blancos between 2009 and 2014, leaving the German side behind after winning the Bundesliga in 2023/24 and the DFB-Pokal in the same year, adding the Franz-Beckenbauer-Supercup to the club’s trophy cabinet last year.
Now, ten Hag has big shoes to fill, with the Dutchman also having big shoes to fill on the pitch with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong having left the side to join Liverpool this summer.

As such, the German giants are scouring Europe to find top talent to prepare for next season, with the club’s recruitment team looking at some of the talent at Manchester United.
Previously it was reported that Leverkusen were looking at Jadon Sancho, however, given his bust up with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, these links ended when the Dutchman was appointed.
Since then, Alejandro Garnacho has been on the shortlist for a reunion with his former coach, however it’s known that the Argentine winger wants to remain in the Premier League.
Now, Brazilian outlet Trivela has reported that Leverkusen are looking to Antony who is looking set to leave Old Trafford this summer.

It’s understood that not only are Leverkusen interested, but that talks have already taken place with United who are looking to offload their winger for good.
United manager Ruben Amorim has given Antony and some of his teammates extended leave this summer to prioritise lining up a move away from the club.
Whilst Real Betis are understood to be front-runners for his signature, wanting to retain him after his successful loan spell, nothing is set in stone yet, leaving the door open for Bayer Leverkusen.
This would be the third time that Erik ten Hag will have managed Antony if the move does go ahead, having worked together at Ajax before their reunion at Old Trafford.
