In recent days, Manchester United and Brighton had discussions about Carlos Baleba’s potential transfer, but yesterday they decided to end their chase.
The team must now look for other options.
Given that he was the Red Devils’ top midfield target, this will be a devastating setback.
His agents and he had multiple discussions, but since a deal did not come to pass, other possibilities will have to be explored.
Morten Hjulmand has been linked to a move in recent days, with the midfielder keen on making a return to his former coach Ruben Amorim.
Lucien Agoume has also been linked with a move too with the talented French midfielder being followed by many clubs.
Now, a England midfielder has been targetted in a shock move.

According to TalkSport, Manchester United are weighing up whether to test Crystal Palace’s resolve to keep Adam Wharton after being told Brighton’s Carlos Baleba is not for sale.
The Palace star is hoping to re-establish himself in the England fold this season, though, as he outlined his aims for the upcoming season.
Wharton told talkSPORT: “My season last year was a bit stop-start with injury.”
“So for Palace, I want to stay as fit as possible, play as many games as I can, because obviously we’ll have a lot of games this year, hopefully.”
“And just try and help the team as much as possible and to do even better than we did last year.”
“Then, I think every player that’s English in the Premier League wants to be picked to go to America come the end of their season. ”
“I don’t really set too many goals personally. I just take it game by game, trying to improve and I can feel within myself if I’m doing well or I can be doing better.”
“Obviously when the time comes, then you’re hopeful that your name will be picked and you’re on the plane.”
